A: Many people who grew up in a Catholic background ask us this. If a church is not Catholic than they call it a Christian church. Open Door is a Christian church
(a Protestant church). Some of our beliefs are similar to Baptist, Pentecostal or independent churches. Our understanding of the Bible has led us to some distinctive beliefs and to be part of a group (denomination) called the Christian Reformed Church of North America. A: We are a small church with a big heart and are involved in our community. We are a new church in East Harlem and want to grow as a community church made up of people from our neighborhood but we also welcome anyone from other communities as well.
